A Wide Range of RECOIL® Products and Innovations

RECOIL® Threaded Inserts

RECOIL® threaded inserts provide solutions for repairing damaged threads and creating stronger threads in lightweight alloys.
- Under Static and Dynamic Loads: RECOIL® inserts enhance the strength and reliability of the assembly.
- Non-Unscrewing: The insert has a larger free diameter than the thread it is installed in, and it is compressed during installation, making it non-unscrewing after placement.
- Corrosion Resistant: Made from 18-8 stainless steel (type 304), rolled in a diamond section to ensure good corrosion resistance, reduce friction, and wear on the threads, exceeding the technical capabilities of the original material. RECOIL® also offers inserts made from Inconel X750, Nimonic 90, phosphor bronze, or 316 stainless steel upon request.
- Compact Size and Weight: The inserts can be installed in bosses, reduced fittings, and other limited-dimension housings. This minimizes the size and weight of components while ensuring a technically superior fastening compared to threaded sleeves and nuts.
- Temperature Resistance: RECOIL® inserts have a temperature range from -150°C to +425°C.
- Vibration Problem Elimination: Using RECOIL® self-locking inserts addresses vibration issues.
- Packaging Tailored to Your Needs: Replenishment bags with quantities specifically designed for occasional repairs and bulk packaging for first assembly or larger series uses.
Taps for Threaded Inserts

The taps for threaded inserts have a diameter slightly larger than standard taps.
RECOIL STI taps are made from high-speed steel (HSS).
Upon request, we can provide taps with very precise tolerances, machine taps for blind holes, and special taps for aluminum.
Different Types of Taps:
- Hand Taps: Including starter, intermediate, and finishing taps.
- Self-Starting Taps: Designed for spark plug threads.
- Machine Taps: Straight-flute taps for through holes and spiral-flute taps for blind holes.
Individual Repair Kits

The repair kits are specifically designed for reinforcing or repairing threads.
Each kit includes:
- A high-speed steel (HSS) tap
- A break-off tool up to M10 or 3/8
- A lightweight and efficient installation tool
- Threaded inserts
- Assembly instructions
The threaded inserts contained in these kits have a length of 1.5 times the diameter.
Lengths of 1D, 1.5D, and 2D are also available in small quantities in replenishment bags.
The lot number on each kit ensures complete traceability for each piece.
Installation Tools - Break-Off Tools and Extractors

RECOIL® threaded inserts are designed in such a way that the use of an installation tool equipped with a guiding nose is not necessary. The first coil of the threaded insert is reduced, allowing the use of the RECOIL® installation tool, which is ideal for general use (repairs, small series).
Advantages of the RECOIL® Manual Installation Tool for Standard Threaded Inserts:
- Simplicity: Easy to understand and use.
- Ease of Use: Designed for straightforward operation.
- Universality: Suitable for a wide range of applications.
- Reduced Cost: Cost-effective solution for installations.
RECOIL® Semi-Automatic Installation Tools for Self-Locking Threaded Inserts:
The installation of self-locking threaded inserts is done exclusively with the installation tool equipped with a guiding nose. This tool is also recommended for large series installations.
Extraction of Threaded Inserts:
The extractor tool allows for the simple and efficient removal of installed inserts.
Extraction of Broken Screws:
The Drill-out: a single tool designed to extract broken screws from your threads..
Key Advantages of Recoil Products:
-
Increased Strength and Durability
Reinforcement of Original Threads: Recoil inserts, with a diameter slightly larger than the tapped hole, expand after insertion to maximize the contact surface with the base metal. This creates a thread that is stronger than the original thread.
Premium Material: Made from stainless steel (type 304 or equivalent), these inserts are resistant to corrosion and wear, supporting continuous temperatures up to approximately 370°C (approximately 800°F).
-
Repair of Damaged Threads
Efficiency in Restoration: Recoil kits easily restore the original thread without the need to replace the parent part, reducing costs and waste.
Universal Compatibility: Valued in demanding industries (automotive, aerospace, electronics, etc.) for their reliability and quick installation.
-
Optimized Load Distribution
The helical profile evenly distributes mechanical stresses across the entire insert, reducing stress concentration points and extending the lifespan of the thread.
-
Technical Flexibility and Available Variants
Wide Range: Diameters from 2 mm to 100 mm, available in metric and imperial standards (UNC, UNF, BSP, BSW, BA, NPT, etc.), including specific formats.
Tanged and Tangless® Versions :
-
Tanged : Easy installation via a tang (tab) that can be broken off after placement.
-
Tangless® : Eliminates the risk of debris (tang) in sensitive applications such as engines or electronics.
Free-Running vs. Locking Inserts : Anti-vibration versions maintain reliable tightening under repeated stress conditions.
-
Ready-to-Use Kits
Pro XL, Classic, Automotive Kits : Complete with drill bits, STI HSS taps, insertion tools, inserts, and instructions for a turnkey repair tailored to your needs.
-
Simple and Quick Installation
Process in a Few Steps : Drill the hole, tap with Recoil, insert the insert, and remove the tang if necessary—accessible even to non-specialized technicians.
Varied Tools : Manual, pneumatic, and electric tools, extractors, and tang break-off tools, suitable for any work pace, from isolated interventions to production lines.
-
Quality Certification and Industrial Compliance
Recoil complies with rigorous standards: ISO 9001, AS9100, QS9000, TS 157, etc., ensuring a high level of quality for sensitive sectors (aerospace, automotive, etc.).
