The larger the size of the bolts, the more critical the mechanical stresses become. An approximate preheating can lead to gradual loosening, leaks, or even complete equipment failure. In these environments where reliability is essential, operators cannot afford to make mistakes. However, conventional torque tightening methods do not always achieve uniform tension across all the bolts.

To address this issue, Boltight offers a hydraulic tensioner technology based on axial elongation. This method relies on the application of controlled hydraulic pressure, allowing the bolt to be temporarily elongated. The nut is then screwed on effortlessly, ensuring a consistent, precise, and reproducible preload.

TSR+ Tensioners
Equipped with a mechanism based on a return spring, which ensures automatic retraction of the piston after the system is depressurized at the end of the tightening sequence, the TSR+ tensioners have been designed to enhance productivity and operator safety.
Standard Bolt Tensioners
Designed to fit most ANSI B16.5, MSS SP44, and API 17D flanges, they are compatible with both metric and imperial bolts ranging from ¾” (M20) to 4” (M100).

Hydraulic nuts allow for easy tightening and precise preload of large-diameter bolts. A hydraulic pump activates the internal lifting system, so the effort required to tighten a very large diameter bolt is reduced to the effort needed to operate the pump.
How Hydraulic Bolt Tensioning Works ?
Boltight solutions allow for the simultaneous tightening and loosening of multiple bolts using high-pressure hydraulic force.
The bolt tensioners elongate the bolt before the nut descends below zero friction, ensuring extreme precision, speed, uniformity, and safety in any bolting situation.
- A tensioner is attached to a bolt or stud.
- High-pressure hydraulic force is used to extend the bolt in the axial direction.
- The elongation of the bolt creates the clamping force, while the bolt is extended, causing the nut to lift relative to the flange.
- An access window in the tensioner allows the nut to be screwed on with very little friction.
- When the hydraulic pressure is released, the nut captures the extension in the bolt, retaining the load.
